Electrochemical capture of long-chain PFAS published in ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces!

Congrats to Paola for her recently published paper on metallopolymer design for enhancing electrochemically-driven uptake and regeneration towards long-chain PFAS!

The work was recently published in ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, and highlights the importance of polymer selection and design for balancing the tradeoff between capture and regeneration for PFOA remediation. The study shows that cobalt-based metallopolymers can greatly enhance capture and reversibility, while also decreasing energy consumption. The work was carried out in collaboration with Prof. Markus Gallei’s team at Saarland University, with contributions from Frank Hartmann and Deborah Schmitt, and Valentina Ardila Contreras, Angelique Klimek, and Dr. Johannes Elbert from the UIUC side.
