Congrats to Haley and Hee-Eun on their recent publication demonstrating the selective electrochemical recovery of cerium over lanthanum from complex waste feedstocks.

The work was published in Chemical Engineering Journal, and presents a consecutive electro-precipitation and selective leaching process for cerium separation from lanthanum, with constant direct current or voltage at lower charge levels, and with alternating current at higher charge levels. This research demonstrates the tunability of symmetric electrochemical configurations for the recovery of light rare-earth elements from heterogeneous waste streams.
