Redox-polymers for platinum group metal recovery published in Journal of Materials Chemistry A!

Congrats to Ching-Hsiu for his recently published paper on the design of metallopolymers for the electrochemically-mediated recovery of platinum group metals (PGMs)!

The work was recently published in the Journal of Materials Chemistry A and selected as inside front cover. The paper demonstrates how the auto-oxidation of the redox-electrodes can be leveraged to reduce the energy consumption and tune the selectivity of electrosorbents towards PGM recovery. Owing to the intrinsically high oxidation potential of the chloro-PGM complexes in leachate solutions, spontaneous electrochemical PGM recovery was possible without electrical or chemical input. The capabilities of the system were demonstrated for the recovery of PGMs from real-world catalytic converters.
